What started as a brainstorm came alive almost immediately. The resson for that was just that the time of the season gave a good starting point for it. It was the winter solstice and later the twelve nights after Christmas Eve. In German called "Rauhnächte". So perfect to pull some cards. If you missed that, it does not matter at all. This is a personell challenge with no given rules (while I know humans love rules). Life goes on in circles, so does this challenge. The pattern I'll go on with should not rule others'. Do what thou wilt ...
So, what is it all about? I find Tarot decks per se are impressive pieces of art on their own. They are a game to play frequently. They are inspirational. They touch your inner mystique. And that should lead to new art, doesn't it? The kind of art does not matter as well. Painting, writing, music ... do what thou wilt.
So to say the challenge has no defined start point or end point like a monthly dedicated challenge where you have a daily prompt. Let the cards be the prompt and let your own way you're used to work with the cards be the time table. Might it be daily, monthly, whatever. For me I choosed the dates of the year's Sabbats as anchor points. They're the days I will pull cards in whatever system and the goal will be to create a piece of art to publish until next Sabbat. A current special is the Rauhnacht Oracle where every night one card is taken to represent a month for the next year.
The wheel of the year:
- Yule: December 20-23
- Imbolc: February 1-2
- Ostara: March 19-21
- Beltane: April 30 – May 1
- Litha/Midsummer: June 20-22
- Lughnasadh: August 1-2
- Mabon: September 21-24
- Samhain: October 31 – November 1
As said, it is just an example I've chosen for myself. Do what thou wilt ...
I am planning more online presence for the case to connect beyond Mastodon limitations... chat room, forum or so. Let's see.
